Exploring derelict places

Since I wrote and article at uni, I’ve had a fascination with derelict buildings, abandoned places and urban exploring.

So I woke up on Friday to find it was a nice Spring day (I luckily had the day off work) and I decided I wanted to get out there and do some exploring.

A friend of mine told me about this place near Matlock, and since it was only a 20 minute drive away from me, I decided to got there.

I had no idea where this place was that I was looking for, so I just followed a woodland path until I saw an old house all over grown.

I carried down the path a little more and found a big abandoned factory. It was all boarded up but some glass was missing from the windows so I managed to peer inside.

I also saw a derelict house which is known as Oakhurst House.

Finding this place was so weird. One minute I was in the woods and the next it was just there.

I find places like this fascinating to look at, but a little creepy at the same time. Definitely felt like I was in episode of Walking Dead in some parts.

Just remember exploring places like this can be dangerous and illegal. I always stay where it’s safe and never go inside.

I hope you liked this post, I had really fun morning having a wander round and taking photos.

Bye for now
