As Spring is here and Summer is short to follow, I thought it was about time I found away to try and have a more ‘sunkissed’ like.
Unlucky for me, I don’t tan. I mostly burn, but sometimes if I’m lucky my sun burns looks a little like a tan. That’s about the best it get’s.
So I’ve decided to try alternatives. I’ve had spray times before but they’d get quite pricey if I had them all the time so I thought I’d give self tanning products ago.
I was a bit worried about trying these kind of products as people sometimes look orange or streaky, so I decided to start off with something simple.
I saw these two Rimmel products on offer when I was in Superdrug and thought they’d be a good place to start.
Rimmel London Sun Shimmer Gradual Tan & Toning
I’ve used gradual tanners before and find there a good way for people who aren’t that comfortable experimenting with tanning products but are fed up of looking like a ghost.
This products does contain argan oil so it does moisture the skin really nicely and leave it feeling soft, however I didn’t notice much of a change.
I find you can usually see a difference within a few days when using these but with this one I couldn’t really tell.
Perhaps if you use it for a week or so you would notice a change but if your wanting something more immediate I would choose something else.
Although I will continue to use this product as it can be used as a daily moisturiser and does smell nice.
Rimmel Sun Shimmer Instant Tan Light Shimmer
This product I was a lot more impressed with!
This is a 24 hour wear product so don’t expect it to last once you’ve had shower, but it’s perfect to use if your going on a night out or just want to look more tanned in general for the day.
It’s easy to put on and you get just about get away with using your hands to apply, but they will look a little more pinker than usual.
You can use this product on your face as well but it is shimmery so you will have a bit of a sparkle. I didn’t realise it was shimmery when I bought it, so always check for that if you don’t want that kind of look.
Overall it’s a great product for experimenting with. As this one is the light version, it leaves you with a natural looking tan and doesn’t look streaky.
It’s a really good product and I now feel confident enough using it and experimenting with darker shades.
I hope you liked this review, if your wanting any more information on any of these products then please let me know.
Bye for now
Such a lovely simple and easy to follow post! I just found your lovely little blog Jess and I am intrigued to read more! 🙂 The quick tan sounds most exciting! I adore the Garnier gradual tan, with it being just enough for my ghost-y complexion. I am tempted to go one up and try the darker shade this year though! 🙂 Xx
Hi Ellie, thank you 🙂 I love Garnier gradual tan too, it smells so nice xx
