My Dark Lipstick Collection

Autumn is almost here which means one thing, DARK LIPSTICKS!!!!

I am a huge fan of dark lips and have been impatiently waiting to finally wear them again.

Although there is one slight issue with dark lips, they take a lot more looking after than the nude lips I’ve been wearing all Summer.

So I thought I’d share with you my dark lipstick collection and my thoughts on each one:

First up is the Maybelline Super stay 24 colour in Absolute plum

I’ve featured this lipstick before in my favourites post because it is such a good lipstick, and not that expensive.

If your wanting to experiment with darker colours then this is the perfect one to start with.

It’s not a super dark shade, it’s easy to apply and very long lasting.

This is usually my choice for long shifts at work as I don’t have to keep checking on it and it does stay put.

 Kiko Milano Velvet Passion

This one is completely different to all the others on here, I can only think to describe it as a cold purple.

It’s a nice shade but if you have a very pale face it will give you a kind of ghostly look (I discovered after wearing it for weeks).

It is still a nice shade, very easy to apply and does last. It’s not as bold as the others so if it does start to fade it will blend into your lips and you won’t get the ridiculous lip liner effect.

Revlon Black Cherry

This is such a nice deep dark colour and again not that pricey

It is easy to apply however it’s no way near as long lasting as the maybelline. You will have to re-apply after eating or drinking and keep checking on throughout the day.

The shade is just so beautiful though and it does feel nice on your lips.

Kiko Milano Double touch

I really do like Kiko Milano lipsticks.
This is similar to the maybelline lipstick in terms of how you apply, but it’s a much darker shade.

This is my go to lipstick for a night out or if i’m out all day as it stays on really well, even survives food!

The only negative point is that if it does happen to come off, it makes your lips look all patchy and weird. It’s also quite difficult to remove.

But it’s great for when you’ve had to much to drink and can’t be bothered to keep applying lipstick.

Mac Satin in Media

I absolutely love this colour, it’s very similar to the Revlon Black Cherry.

This was the first dark lipstick I ever bought and it just got me obsessed with dark lips.

This is the most expensive lipstick in my dark collection and it’s not perfect. It can sometimes bleed into your skin if you put too much on, even if you do use a lip liner.

Also it’s not very long lasting either, you will need to keep checking and reapplying throughout the day.

If you eat something, you will end up with all over your chin. (Unless that’s just me being a weird eater)

I would recommend using a lip brush when applying.

The colour is just so beautiful though.

And finally the Rimmel Stay Matte Plum this show

This is the latest addition to my dark lipsticks and I’m not sure if i’m that impressed by it.

It can be a little tricky to apply as it’s very smudgy and it’s more of a deep pink than burgundy.

It’s not very long lasting either. I wore it a few days ago when I was taking my dog for a walk and by the time I got back, it had started to come away from the centre of my lips and I was left with an odd looking patchy effect.

I will still wear it as it’s a nice shade but I will probably be quite conscious and checking it often.

That is all my dark lipsticks, so far.

Overall, I do have to say my favourite is the Kiko Milano double touch, it does last and it’s not that expensive.

I would love to hear if you have any favourite dark lipsticks, I’m always looking for new ones to try.

I hope you liked this post, I’m so excited for Autumn!!!

Bye for now
