Vegan food is becoming more and more popular and I love it.
A year ago, I worked in a restaurant and there was one vegan dish on the menu. Now places have whole menus dedicated to vegans!
I will admit, when it comes to veganism I tend to take on more of a part time role, but we’ve all got to start somewhere right?
When I used to think of vegan food, I thought of tofu and rice but there’s so much more than that, and restaurants are forever concocting new tasty creations that take vegan food to a whole new level.
When the Cosy Club in Derby got in contact and asked me if I wanted to try their new vegan menu I was over the moon!
I absolutely adore the Cosy Club and often pop in there whenever I’m in Derby. I headed down there one evening with my plus one, and fellow blogger Jay, to see what culinary delights awaited us.
I was immediately surprised to see just how extensive their new vegan menu was. They’ve got you covered for breakfast, lunch, dinner and… pudding!
Deciding what to eat was a difficult task so we decided to share some tapas and a main meal between us.
The tapas came in perfect portions sizes, ideal for sharing or as a light bite.
We went for:
Garlic Mushrooms on Sourdough Toast – if you’re a mushroom lover, these will not disappoint!
Mediterranean Plate – hummus served with pomegranate and various other toppings. Very tasty and the pomegranate gave it a nice twist.
Super Grain Salad – flavour wise, this definitely wins! Super grain salads can sometimes be boring but this one was the complete opposite.
Made from a combination of black quinoa, coconut and coriander rice, and tumuric cauliflower rice. Prepare to let your taste buds be dazzled with the empowering aromas of coconut.
Our chosen main was a Thai Green Vegetable Curry, something I was intrigued to try.
It came beautifully served and accompanied by coconut and coriander rice, spring rolls and a sweet chili dipping sauce.
The curry itself was amazing. Packed full of flavour and a variety of veg, I will definitely be back to try this again. I didn’t pick up much coconut in the rice, but the curry was flavorsome enough that it balanced it out.
By this point, I was stuffed. Who knew vegan food could be so filling?! (I didn’t)
I just managed to save enough room for their vegan dessert, a Chocolate and Orange Torte.
Imagine a Terry’s Chocolate Orange, because this tasted just like that! Incredible, rich and mouth watering flavours, it was the perfect end to this delicious meal.
When I’m in the Cosy Club I usually treat myself to a cocktail (or three) but sadly I was driving on this occasion so I chose the Cooling Lemonade Mocktail to accompany my meal.
I had such a lovely evening at the Cosy Club Derby. The staff there are super friendly and welcoming which makes each visit that even more enjoyable.
I’ve already planned what I’m having on my next visit (Thai Burger)!
Thank you so much to the Cosy Club for inviting me along, you can view their vegan menu on their website here.
Bye for now
