Christmas is quickly approaching which means I have a lot of shopping to do which I means I’m going to need money.
I am trying so hard right now to not spend money on random stuff I don’t need and eating out all the time so I’m making cuts.
I’ve also been reading some of the Confessions of a Shopaholic series which is also inspiring me to save.
I love Becky’s Dad motto of ‘Cut back, or make more money’.
I’ve tried doing the second one, but didn’t really make much, so now I’m following the first, cut back.
And to help me do that, I thought I’d write a little spending log. I read a similar post on That Friday Girl and seeing what she spent in a week kind of just helped me, I can’t explain why but seeing how much other people spend in a week kind of put things into perspective for me.
What I spent last week:
Monday: Had a pretty boring day, didn’t really go anywhere to spend money. However I did buy a satnav holder as Jamie gave me his old sat nav but lost the stand.
Tuesday: This was a much busier day, went to a pumpkin patch in Leicstershire, it was free to go in and my pumpkin cost £2.30. Ate lunch at the farm cafe £5.90 and a bottle of raspberry lemonade £1.50. Treated myself to a slice of their delicious homemade cheesecake £2.99
On the way back we stopped off at Foremark resevoir spent £2.50 on parking. Then went to a few shops back in Derby. Bought a magazine and paint in Hobbycraft £6.29. I also bought a new candle from T.K Maxx but I’m not counting that as I returned an item I’d previously bought and used that money to buy it with.
Later on in the evening I was starving and broke my healthy eating vow and had Chinese food £6.00
Wednesday: Had work in the day so bought a £3 meal deal from the shop, stayed at home in the evening.
Thursday: Bought some food from Coop £4. In the evening I went to the Roxy Ballroom opening night in Nottingham with a few other bloggers (post coming soon). Spent £5.40 on bus fare.
Friday: Did a little online shopping and spent £29 on three new tops and some socks from George ASDA, they have some really nice and lowly priced stuff in at the minute.
Also bought some poo bags from Pets At Home £2 (glamorous I know). Nipped to the shop before work and spent £1 on some sweets.
Saturday:Had a lazy day before work in the evening, ordered myself a new phone case off eBay £2.45
Bought myself some crisps from the shop before work £1 (So healthy)
Sunday: I pretty much worked all day so I didn’t even get chance to go anywhere and spend money which I see a positive thing.
Weekly total: 84.28
So all in all, I probably didn’t do too well with the whole trying to save money thing. Although I did only eat out once which is an improvement as lately I’ve been eating out several times a week.
I hope you enjoyed this post, if you have any money saving tips I’d love to hear them.
Bye for now
